What is Gold Filled Jewellery?

Gold filled jewellery uses a carat gold overlay which is then bonded to a base metal, which is a brass, inner core in the material I use. This is a permanent bond and the gold won't flake, peel or fall out.

What is the difference between Gold Filled and Gold Plated jewellery?

Gold filled and gold plated jewellery have many differentiating factors.

Gold filled uses a mechanical process to bond a layer of gold to a brass base metal using heat and pressure.

Electroplating, used in gold plated pieces, is a very thin layer of gold which may tarnish quickly.

Why Buy Gold Filled Jewellery?

Gold-filled items are perfect if you’re looking for material that is higher quality than gold-plated, but an affordable alternative to solid gold. Unlike gold-plated, gold-filled can last a lifetime if taken care of and isn’t affected by water or hot weather. It is also tarnish-free under normal conditions.
